I just heard about a PBS special called “The Way the Music Died,” scheduled to air tomorrow online. It’s going to address some of the major issues facing the current music industry including file swapping, declines in music quality, and strong emphasis on the visual image rather than the music and talent of the artist. This looks to be an important and critical piece, and brings up issues that are meaningful to all music lovers. Try to check it out.

Anniversary dinner photos are in! Meal recap: we started with a delicious appetizer of steamed scallops with ginger and scallions. Then, before our main course, we had the pleasure of meeting Chef Morimoto as he walked around to greet the patrons! Stephanie had braised kobe beef and jumbo shrimp. I had Chilean sea bass, steamed in sake. We also shared a bottle of wine, and each got amazing desserts and after-dinner drinks! Two thumbs up for a great meal and a very memorable experience.

This evening Steph and I joined my parents at a local Virginia wine festival. Lots of fun, lots of wine. Lots of old white people. Also, here’s an idea: if you’re at an outdoor wine festival covered by a huge rental tent, it may not be the best time to be sampling every sip of every bottle while taking notes. Hold your glass out, get a sip, and get out of my way. No chatting it up, no lingering in front of the table. Pay for a full bottle, or move on. Stop getting in the way of my inebriation! In other news, Steph and I are out to Philly tomorrow for our anniversary dinner. Have no fear, a full report will follow.
