Yikes. Best of luck to everyone in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama as Hurricane Katrina moves ever closer. Tomorrow morning will be rough, but at least there’s some advanced warning. Evacuate, people!

Today we spent the day in North Beach, a small town in Calvert County, Maryland. It was only a quick 45-minute drive out Route 4, but proved to be an enjoyable afternoon in the sun and sand. This will definitely be a spot to visit again next summer!

Google released their Google Talk Instant …

Google released their Google Talk Instant Messenger service today, amid cheers of awe and jubilation from geeks and dweebs everywhere. Quite simply, it’s just another way to IM. But it ties in directly to your Google Email account and runs off an open-source messaging protocol (Jabber/XMPP), making it very a very attractive option to existing users of compatible (and ad-free!) IM clients like Gaim (which I use).
