Arrr! It be International Talk Like A Pirate Day! Why? Just because.
Stephanie and I got really unlucky this month. After I ran in the Army Ten Miler last year, we were both planning on running it in October (Steph’s first big race!). But Steph developed a lower-back/hip issue that she’s working out with her physical therapist. And I’ve started battling a minor overuse injury in my knee that’s enough to take me out, as well. So we’re sad and frustrated, but determined to come back stronger than ever by next year!
Ever wonder what that little “RSS” thing is to the lower-right of my site? It means that scottahearn.com has a syndicated feed and like many websites provides a means to share recent additions or updates to my site’s content. Using an aggregation utility called an RSS reader (I use a free web-based service called Bloglines), I can pool countless numbers of site feeds into one convenient interface. This lets me stay up to date on news and information from all over the internet without being required to visit every website individually. This is the list of sites I check through Bloglines; each provides their own respective feed via a similar “RSS” or “XML” button.
Welcome back to the states, Aaron! Glad you have safe and fun travels. And thank you for Milefo, the Laughing Buddha – you can see he’s quite happy on my desk at work!
Everybody is talking about gas prices. They’re high, indeed, but at least there are less fools on the beltway now. However, I was happy to find a great “gas gouging F.A.Q.” online today on CNN Money. I thought it explained the situation rather well, and introduced me to AAA’s daily fuel gauge report. Don’t pay more than you have to!
