We stepped out of our front door the other night into a flurry of sirens, media, and activity. Yes, our beloved “Happy Town” was the scene of its first police officer shooting in 15 years. Thankfully, it wasn’t some sort of gang/drugs/mafia ugliness; just an unfortunate crazy man. It sure put our serene little community on the map, though!

Thanks to everybody for a great homecoming weekend at William & Mary! We had lots of fun, even though we’re now in our “too old to know anybody” era. A big thank you to Tom for hosting a delicious dinner on Saturday, and accolades to the Choir for a terrific concert, as always.

Apologies for not posting too much lately – I’ve been busy planning, conspiring, and fibbing my way through Stephanie’s surprise birthday party this past Friday! After cleaning myself up at the Grooming Lounge, a small group of us met for drinks at Hotel Helix then dinner at Olives. Thanks to all who were able to brave the monsoon as well as the city traffic – Steph had a wonderful time and was so happy to see everybody! A big thank you to Drew, also! Today, we had a nice afternoon (and more presents and cake) with all the parents. It was a birthday weekend really, but memorable and fun I hope. Happy [mumble mumble]th birthday, Stephanie!

I guess it’s a good thing we missed the Ten Miler. It sounds like the participants got more than they planned for! That last mile would have made me very sad.
