Team A'Hearn

Thanks to everyone for a great birthday week! My 29^th year was ushered in with dinners, drinks, various get-togethers, family, and fun. And special thanks to Aaron for Gran Turismo 4 [site, w/ sound]; Stephanie was a big fan of me wasting most of the weekend away in front of that. According my progress, though, I’ve only completed 1% of the game. Apparently that’s no excuse for neglect. Pssh. Right.

I stumbled across the Smoking Gun’s Backstage Rider Archive today and it made me think about my superfluous demands were I ever to become famous and/or insane. I’m pretty boring, though. I can’t think of any specific venue setup requests, and the all I could come up with for catering is basic bar stock, a deli tray, and maybe some Life cereal and milk. Oh, and an internet connection, because even in fame I would be a slave to my tech. That’s about it, but I suppose if I really thought about it I could come up with crazed, itemized demands like Van Halen.

Weekend roundup!

1. It looks like the domain transfer is just about done; you should see a noticeable speed difference, and I’m busy exploring new capabilities with content delivery and site features. Two thumbs up to GeekISP.
2. Another NASCAR season has begun! We’ve already made plans for Richmond in May. Be there!
3. Happy birthday, Aaron! There is no greater place to celebrate than the Brickskeller. The winners of the night were the Carib Shandy from Trinidad and the Okocim Porter from Poland.
4. Ice Dancing? ICE DANCING?! Those Olympics are wacky.
5. Don’t forget that you only have two shopping days left, people.

After five and a half years of rock-solid web and domain hosting from my friend Scott (aka “Snorwood”), I have decided to change providers in the coming days. While Scott has been incredibly patient with me and responsive to my constant nagging, this new hosting service will open up some great new capabilities for me and the site. We’ll hopefully see some speed increases, too. So there may be some downtime here and there, and even if the site is up I can’t guarantee that the blog will be available or stable during the transition. Patience! The Great Blizzard of ’06 has come and gone! It looks like we only got about 7 to 8 inches, but that is still a pretty good amount for the DC area. We even braved the weather last night for a concert in Bethesda which we were too excited to miss. Poncho Sanchez, a Latin jazz conga player and bandleader, comes to the east coast so infrequently that we chase him down every chance we get. Luckily they didn’t cancel the show and we were home safely in time to get snowed in!

Forget the Army Ten Miler this year – let’s race up the Empire State Building instead! Ouch.
